Mountain Shadows School in West Jordan, Utah

“I have 3 children that go to this school. One in 1 grade , 3 grade, and 5 grade. Two of them get bullied all the time and the teachers nor the principal ( Mr. Jacobs ) or asst. principal ( Ms. Biebo) will do anything about it. All they keep saying is ' It's just drama ', yet it had gotten to the point of spreading nasty rumors and actual physical hitting and beating my children. But if they try to protect themselves they get in trouble. What are the schools coming to when you don't know if your children are going to be safe.”

“both of my children attend to mountain shadows I have a 1st grader and 4th grader love the school great teachers great enviroment . I thinks its a parent responsability to be on top of your child education if youare involved everything its easy for your kids , and we have a really nice principal mr Jacobs its always walking around the schools making sure everything its ok . he would always answr your questions no matter what . great man.”

“I felt that my childs teacher was unwilling to challange her needs because it created extra work for him. I did not get any additional support from the principal (although he has now changed) when I sought help. I was anxious to leave the school and am now thrilled with the education my child is getting at another local public elementary school.”

“Both my children attend Mountain Shadows Elementary School. One is in 3rd grade and the other is in Kindergarten. I like how the school has activities or plays going on to involve the parents. I have received plenty of feedback from both of my children's teachers. Good or Bad. I believe that it is also the parent's responsibility to take proper action if you don't receive the feedback that you should be getting from your children's teacher. Take initiative! I think that I do not like is the fund raisers.”

“This school is only an average school. It has a lot of very new teachers and a lot of very old teachers and seem to me to be very unorganized. There are probably only 10% of the teachers who have organized classroom. Their weakness is they do not keep the parents informed or updated on the students. If your student is doing poorly, you don't usually know until report cards come out. I have never seen a school like this one, where parents are not a priority in their communications. Teachers are not responsive to requests and the principal does not know what she's doing.”
